Meet the “I Do” Crew
Each month we’re asking our ”I Do” Crew the questions on every recently engaged persons mind, from choosing a wedding photographer to writing a guest list, our trio of recent or soon-to-be newly-weds share their insights into planning a wedding. So far we’ve asked how they chose their wedding venue, whether they invited plus ones to their wedding, and how to write a wedding guest list.
This month we’re asking the I Do Crew when they sent out their wedding invitations.
The recently married one: Married in August 2018, describes her wedding as ‘a perfect day better than I ever imagined.’
The groom: Married in July 2018, describes his wedding as ‘a chilled and fun day, with loads of our friends and family.’
The bride-to-be: Getting Married in September 2019, describes her upcoming wedding as ‘the day I marry my best friend surrounded by the people we love the most.’
We ask the I Do Crew when they sent out their wedding invitations.
The recently married one
We sent most of our wedding invitations out 4 months before the weddings day, but we sent evening-only invitations just 2 months before which I now regret leaving so late. Our families were informed of the date 12 months in advance though.
The groom
Ooh this is testing my knowledge! I think we sent out Save the Dates around December/January time, so 7 months before the wedding. We sent the official invitations in April, just over 3 months before the wedding day. Invitations were a lot of work because we hand made them (and by ‘we’ I mean my lovely wife) so it was very time consuming to write each invitation by hand – I was only allowed to write the envelopes!
The bride-to-be
We sent our invitations in January, 9 months before the wedding. Our Save the Dates went out a couple of months before that in October 2018. We have family living abroad so we need to give them time to book flights!
The wedding coordinator
As soon as you know your wedding date, venue, and guest list – send out a save the date! Once people have kept the date free to attend your wedding you can relax (a little bit) about getting the formal invitations in the post.
Next month, we ask the I Do Crew about booking wedding entertainment.
